On Monday, February 23, Cougars came together to celebrate a milestone in the school year... becoming 100 days smarter!
The MS/HS students organized a fun-filled afternoon of engaging, student-led activities to celebrate the 100th day of school with the elementary students.
Each activity centered around the theme of “100,” while also emphasizing collaboration, leadership, and connection between students of all ages. The result was an afternoon packed with creativity, teamwork, and Cougar pride.
The senior class challenged students with 100-piece puzzles, while everyone enjoyed delicious cookies generously donated by Cheryl Baxa, Lisa Green, Rachel Sanderson, Laurie Beauchamp, Carol Johnson, Ashley Kass, Erin Schulte, and Connor Hosford.
The junior class partnered with the Bring Change to Mind group to lead students in decorating 4x4 wooden coasters. These coasters will be assembled into an inspirational quote to be displayed in the hallway. A lasting reminder of teamwork and positivity.
Sophomores hosted an exciting domino competition where students worked to create either the longest and most successful domino run or the most creative using, of course, 100 dominoes.
The freshmen class stacked and strategized with the elementary classes to build the tallest possible tower using 100 red Solo cups. I believe the highest stack reached 20 cups high in the 3rd grade class!!
Eighth graders brought their current PE bowling unit into the celebration, challenging participants to knock down a total of 100 pins. Seventh graders were “flipping with joy” as they incorporated cone flipping into the 100-themed activity.
Sixth graders designed a relay-style shuffleboard game where students pushed a shuffleboard puck, sprinted to retrieve it, and colored a chart all the way to 100. And while the elementary students were pushing pucks, the 6th graders were pushing up to motivate the classes to keep going.
The excitement didn’t stop there. Throughout the day, elementary students searched the building for 100 hidden paws, with prizes hosted by Mrs. Harnack. MS/HS students joined in the fun with their own 100-paw hunt, with prizes hosted by Ms. Klein. I am told the students are still looking for all the paws!
The school buzzed with energy, laughter, and school spirit from start to finish. It was truly a day to remember! A celebration not only of 100 days of learning, but of leadership, collaboration, and what it truly means to be Cougars.
Here’s to being 100 days smarter and counting!
