The Burke National Honor Society hosted a Hot Chocolate Day at the school, sharing warm cups of hot chocolate and peppermint sticks with students and staff. It was a fun way to spread kindness and brighten everyone's day. Thank you to the NHS members for organizing such a thoughtful treat for the school!

Cougars can read anywhere!!! We even had a teacher take advantage of DEAR time and the nice weather!

DEAR time was a success yesterday! So many kids took advantage of the nice weather and spent some time reading. Stay tuned for more pictures from our Drop Everything And Read time.

So many good things happening at the Burke Schools! We wore our most comfortable clothes and enjoyed more big kids reading to our little kids. AND...our little kids read to our big kids!!! Cougars make the best readers!!!

COUGARS ARE READERS!!!! Another great day of reading and having our littles spending time reading with our bigs!!! Tomorrow's dress up day is Comfy Clothes! Wear your comfiest clothes, bring your favorite blanket or stuffed animal to spend sometime reading tomorrow.

Our 1st day of Read Across America was a success. Mrs. Frank's freshman and junior classes came over to the elementary school and read to our 1st graders and 3rd graders. Lots of smiles were seen while big kids and little kids spent time together. We have a mystery reader this week, ask your elementary student who they think it is?!?! Tomorrow's dress up day is Cougar gear! Cougars are READERS!!!

CONGRATULATIONS ABIGAIL AND PAIGE!!! 🎉🎉 We are SO proud to announce that they are **Family, Career and Community Leaders of America National Qualifiers for the 2nd year in a row!!! 🇺🇸🏆👏 This year, their instructional video focuses on Safe Sleeping for Infants 🍼💤 — such an important and meaningful topic that helps keep our little ones safe! ❤️

🎉 Cougars Celebrate 100 Days Smarter! 🎉

Today our MS and HS students teamed up with the elementary kids for a day full of 100-themed fun! From 100-piece puzzles, domino runs, and cup towers, to bowling 100 pins, cone flipping, and relay shuffleboard, every grade got creative and competitive.

Here’s to 100 days smarter and counting! 💙

⚡️BG Girls brought the Storm to Region Wrestling in Mitchell today. So proud of how our girls wrestled! Congrats to the following region placers: Miley Janak 6th Harper Wenger 6th Sarah Spann 6th Daytona Paris 🥉 Also, Congrats to 3x state qualifier Daytona Paris! 👏 Finish what you started at State!🏅

The 2026 Missouri Valley Spelling Bee was a HUGE success today!! 🐝✨ We are so proud of our incredible spellers and the way they represented Burke! 🏆 First Grade Division 🥇 Lincoln Hitchcock – 1st Place 🥈 Aaliyah Miller – 2nd Place 🏆 Second Grade Division 🥈 Briggs Van Hill – 2nd Place 🏆 Fifth Grade Division 🥉 Kayden Ulrich – 3rd Place 🏆 Sixth Grade Division 🥇 Eva Lindholm – 1st Place 🥈 Beckem Bauld – 2nd Place All of these outstanding performances earned Burke a whopping 13 points, placing us 1st overall at the Missouri Valley Spelling Bee AND making us the proud winners of the Traveling Trophy!! 🏆🎉 We are also incredibly proud of ALL of this year’s participants: Eva Lindholm, Beckem Bauld, Kayden Ulrich, Brooks Herman, Liam Sutton, Beck Andrews, Jeven Schonebaum, Carter Steffen, Toni Horn, Briggs Van Hill, Aaliyah Miller, and Lincoln Hitchcock. And a HUGE shout out to our amazing bus driver for getting us there and back safely — we appreciate you more than you know!! 🚌👏 Way to go, students!
