The 2026 Missouri Valley Spelling Bee was a HUGE success today!! 🐝✨ We are so proud of our incredible spellers and the way they represented Burke! 🏆 First Grade Division 🥇 Lincoln Hitchcock – 1st Place 🥈 Aaliyah Miller – 2nd Place 🏆 Second Grade Division 🥈 Briggs Van Hill – 2nd Place 🏆 Fifth Grade Division 🥉 Kayden Ulrich – 3rd Place 🏆 Sixth Grade Division 🥇 Eva Lindholm – 1st Place 🥈 Beckem Bauld – 2nd Place All of these outstanding performances earned Burke a whopping 13 points, placing us 1st overall at the Missouri Valley Spelling Bee AND making us the proud winners of the Traveling Trophy!! 🏆🎉 We are also incredibly proud of ALL of this year’s participants: Eva Lindholm, Beckem Bauld, Kayden Ulrich, Brooks Herman, Liam Sutton, Beck Andrews, Jeven Schonebaum, Carter Steffen, Toni Horn, Briggs Van Hill, Aaliyah Miller, and Lincoln Hitchcock. And a HUGE shout out to our amazing bus driver for getting us there and back safely — we appreciate you more than you know!! 🚌👏 Way to go, students! Your hard work, courage, and brainpower paid off in a big way. We are so proud of you! 💙💛

Happy Women in Sports Day to these two amazing girls! 🏀💪 So proud of Brylie and Emmie for showing what hard work, teamwork, and heart look like every single day. ❤️ They continue to prove that girls can do anything they set their minds to — on and off the court/field! 🙌✨

Can you believe it?! Monday, February 23rd is our 100th Day of School! 🏫📚

To celebrate all the learning, growing, and hard work, we’re inviting students to dress like they’re 100 years smarter! 👵👴💡

Break out the suspenders, pearls, bow ties, cardigans, gray hair spray, or any fun “100-year-old genius” look! We can’t wait to see the creativity and celebrate how much our students have learned in 100 days.

It’s going to be a SMART and stylish day! 🧠✨

The Tater-Olympics have started with Curling!

❤️🐞 What do you get when you combine science and Valentine's Day? A Love Bug activity, of course! 🦋Thank you, Chelsea and Morgan, for teaching kids all about the benefits of bugs while adding a little holiday spirit to the lesson. 🪲💙

Today these awesome students represented Burke at the SDSU Elementary Festival Honor Choir! 🎶💙 With over 700 auditions submitted from across the state, only 180 students were selected for this incredible opportunity and we are so proud to say that Connor Hosford, Hazel Hagberg, Jacqueline Smith, and Nona Horn were among them! They spent 5 hours rehearsing with Guest Conductor Angela Kasper before putting on a fantastic performance. 👏🎵💛

Art Field Trip 2026

Our 4th graders had a soft launch of their Happy Mug Coffee Cart on Thursday, and it was a huge hit! ☕😄

They treated our teachers to some delicious drinks while showing off all the hard work they’ve been putting in over the past few weeks.

With the guidance of Mrs. Seegers and Mrs. Johnson, students have been learning what it takes to run a small business—creating ads, making choices about their products, and putting their math skills to work by planning costs, figuring out prices, and sticking to a budget to open the cart. 📊💡

We are so proud of their teamwork, creativity, and confidence as they turned learning into a real-world experience. Way to go, Happy Mug crew! 👏✨

February 9th board meeting

The 5th graders took part in Global Play Day today! 🌍 An afternoon full of imagination, teamwork, and learning through play—because play matters at every age! 🧠✨

Huge shout-out to Mark Leinweaver for visiting today and sharing his powerful message on Why Character Matters. Students were challenged to think about accountability, balance, and character, and reminded that you are your own agent—your choices matter, both online and in real life. A timely and impactful message that really resonated with our students. Thank you for a great presentation! 👏💙

Mrs. Johnson had help displaying books for the sports section in the library. 3rd grader Jayce Frank drew a poster showing different sports. He also picked out and made the display for our library. Thanks for making the poster and display Jayce!

Heart Rate Experiments!! Spicy foods and extreme temperatures were a few of the variables tested today.

We are thrilled to recognize Emmie as she officially signs with Mount Marty University to continue both her academic and athletic career with the Lancers!

Her commitment, determination, and work ethic have left a strong mark on our program and inspired those around her!
