🍎 Future educators in action! Today, our Burke Educators Rising students traveled to Black Hills State University for a day of learning and exploring the teaching profession! Students participated in several interactive sessions, from using technology in the classroom to integrating literature into musical activities. It was a great opportunity to discover creative ways to make learning engaging for students! A special shout-out to Becky Haenfler, South Dakota’s 2026 Teacher of the Year, for serving as the keynote speaker and sharing her passion for education with our future teachers! 👏 We also had a couple of Ed Risers who had never been to the Black Hills, so of course we had to take a little detour after the expo! A few extra miles and some new memories were the perfect way to finish our day! ⛰️📸 Thank you, BHSU, for welcoming our students and helping them explore the impact they could make in a classroom someday! 💙🐾

🤠 Rosebud Rancherettes at the Burke School! 🍔 Mary Horn, Carol Johnson, and Sue Chytka fired up the grill today, flipping and seasoning delicious hamburgers and beef hot dogs for the school lunch program! 🥩 “Beef. It’s What’s for Dinner!” — bringing a little ranch-country flavor to the Burke School lunchroom. A big thank-you to the Rosebud Rancherettes for serving up a hearty meal and supporting our school community! ❤️

💙🐾 Wellness Wednesday: One Positive Step Forward! 🐾💙 Today, our Cougars kicked off Wellness Wednesday by focusing on taking ONE POSITIVE STEP FORWARD! 👟✨ 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️ We welcomed our Cross Country team as they prepare to head to Region Cross Country in Freeman! Our runners shared how they overcome challenges, stay motivated, and keep pushing forward even when things get tough! 💪 🤝 Next, our Little Cougars partnered up with our Big Cougars for a mindset activity! Together, they talked about the power of positive thinking and shared one positive step they can take this week! 🌟 💙 Sometimes, all it takes is one small step to make a BIG difference! 🐾 Good luck to our Cross Country team at Regions! We are cheering you on! 💙🏃‍♂️

🚒🔥 Fire Prevention Week! 🔥🚒 A HUGE thank you to the Burke Volunteer Fire Department for welcoming our elementary students down to the fire station for a tour! 👨‍🚒🚒 Our students had a blast exploring the fire trucks, checking out the equipment, and learning all about fire safety! 🧯❤️ We are so thankful for our local volunteer firefighters and everything they do to keep our community safe! 🐾💙 THANK YOU for making this such a fun and educational experience for our Little Cougars! 🚒🔥

What an AWESOME day of volleyball! 🤩 We are so proud of all these girls for their hard work, hustle, and teamwork! 💙🏐 The future of Cougar Volleyball is looking BRIGHT! 🌟🐾

🍎 Learning to lead, learning to teach! Our Burke Teens as Teachers students spent today learning about child brain development and how to adapt their teaching to different stages of development. They also put their learning into action by practicing lesson structure and teaching skills! A big thank-you to Wegner Auto for sponsoring the venue and supporting this opportunity for our students! 💙🐾

Congratulations to Kenzie Lomme, Ella Vasquez, Eddie Drey and Mason Young for being chosen to represent Burke High School at the upcoming All State Choir concert. They will join singers from across the state on October 31 at The Monument in Rapid City, SD.

We hope several people are able to make the trip to enjoy our students performance. If you are unable to attend , you can watch the concert that evening on SDPBS.

Happy Walk to School Day! 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️ Members of our local SD DOT team showed up bright and early to welcome kids to school today! They also dropped off light-up bracelets for all of our elementary students, which may come in handy at the end of the month. 🎃 Thanks for the great reminder to get outside, get some steps in our tennis shoes, and enjoy this beautiful South Dakota weather! 💙 We appreciate you helping make getting to school active, fun, and safe!
