👮♂️Thank you Officer Green and the Gregory County PD for giving our kids glow sticks and talking about Halloween Safety! 🎃

A couple of our EdRisers had an awesome day at SDSU for the Learning Expo! 🎓💙 They got to explore the world of education, connect with other aspiring teachers, and see just how exciting it is to be part of shaping the next generation. The future of teaching is bright! ✨📚

Yesterday the 5th graders teamed up with the 1st graders and created spider webs craft to get into the Halloween spirit!

Ohhh it’s pumpkin season and we are LOVING it! 🎃✨
Our students went all out for this year’s Pumpkin Decorating Contest — the creativity is off the charts! From best sports theme and spooky to absolutely stunning, these pumpkins are true masterpieces. 🧡😍
Take a peek at all the fun and stay tuned… we’ll be announcing the big winners soon! 🏆👀

1st grade had a fun surprise last week during library. Our 4th graders came and read with them!!! We aren't sure which class enjoyed it more!

🎃 Huge shoutout to the Burke Community Memorial Hospital for bringing in some fun treats and taking time to talk with our students about Halloween safety! 👻🧡 We appreciate you helping keep our Cougars safe and ready for a fun night of trick-or-treating! 🍬🎃

Grace 51st 22:10
Taylor 78th 23:05
Jordyn 81st 23:11
We are Cougar Proud!💙🐾

🎃 This week’s Principal’s Principles was all about patience and perseverance — and a whole lot of pumpkin launching! 🍬🍂 The candy pumpkins were no match for our young engineers’ catapults made from popsicle sticks, rubber bands, and spoons. The pumpkins were flying, and the giggles were nonstop! 😄

Good luck to our Cross Country team as they head to State this weekend! 🏃♀️💙
We had to send them off with a little Cougar competition, of course! 😉
Go get ’em, girls! We are Cougar proud!

🌟 In a world full of bright screens and constant scrolling, it’s easy to overlook the simple joys of classic games and the power they have to build real social skills and personal connections.
Today, during counseling, the 7th graders’ game of choice was UNO! 🎴 Laughter, conversation, and a little friendly competition made for the perfect reminder that sometimes, the best moments don’t need Wi-Fi. 💙

🏃♀️State XC Pep Rally will be Thursday, October 23rd at 3:15 pm in the HS gym. Come cheer on our team and help send them to Huron full of Cougar Spirit! Good luck Taylor, Grace, and Jordyn. We are Cougar Proud!

Thank you to Rising Hope for hosting this year’s Book Buddies! 💙
We are so grateful for your partnership in helping our students and families care for their minds and emotions.

🎉 Huge shout-out to our FCCLA chapter for hosting this week’s Cougar Activity!
Our students took their Principal Principles lesson on competition a step further as the FCCLA members helped model teamwork and good sportsmanship through board games, practicing healthy competition, and supporting one another. 💪🎲
It was a great reminder that winning feels good, but lifting each other up feels even better! 💙

🎯 This week's Principal’s Principles focused on sportsmanship and competition! 🏅
It’s always nice to win—but that’s not what matters most. The real victory comes from learning, growing, and having fun along the way. 💪✨

🍪 The 6th graders have been hard at work learning how to divide fractions… and what better way to put their skills to the test than with a wacky cookie recipe! 👩🍳👨🍳
Math meets the kitchen as students adjusted recipes, divided ingredients, and were able to see just how sweet fractions can be!

Today, our Teens As Teachers group traveled to Pierre for a training session filled with learning, leadership, and fun! 🙌
They joined other student leaders from across the state to build skills, share ideas, and prepare to bring their lessons back to our own classrooms and community.
We’re so proud of these students for stepping up as role models and educators—way to represent Burke School District with Cougar pride! 💙🐾

Today our 8th graders attended Conservation Day at the Butte Golf Course Club House!
Students rotated through a variety of hands-on learning stations including Kerplunk Nitrates, Biodiversity Jenga, Jeopardy, Turtles of Nebraska, Trees 101, Soil Sponge, and Native Plants of Nebraska.
It was a fun-filled day exploring nature, learning about local ecosystems, and discovering how we can all do our part to protect the environment. 🌎💚
A big thank you to the organizers and presenters for making this such a meaningful experience for our students!

🐾🏃♀️Way to go Burke XC! Congrats to Jordyn, Grace, Taylor, and Coach Kenzy on a great race today. All three girls punched their ticket to the State XC Meet and finished 3rd as a team today at the Region Meet. Way to go Cougars!🐾👏
