A Huge Thank You to Our Board Members for Supporting Cougar PALS!
A big shoutout to our Burke School Board members for stepping up to work concessions last night in support of Cougar PALS (Parents Advancing Learning and Success)! Their leadership and dedication to enhancing our students' educational experiences continue to shine through.
Why is parent involvement so important? Research shows that when parents and caregivers are engaged in their child’s education, students perform better academically, have higher self-esteem, and develop stronger social skills. Parent involvement also fosters a sense of community, improves attendance, and increases motivation—helping students succeed both in and out of the classroom.
At Burke School, we value and encourage parent involvement, and last night’s efforts were a perfect example of how small actions can make a big impact. Thanks to the hard work of our board members, Cougar PALS raised $369 through concessions!
Where does this money go? Recently, PALS funds have supported:
🎬 A Valentine’s trip to the movie theater for elementary students
🎳 A PE bowling activity to promote lifelong fitness
🎉 Supplies for the 100th Day of School celebration
🎤 Guest speakers and enrichment opportunities for students
… and so much more!
Want to get involved? There’s another concession opportunity on February 28th during the Burke vs. Avon basketball game. If you’re interested in volunteering, please contact the school at 605-775-2645 or Mrs. Hosford at mary.hosford@k12.sd.us by February 25th.
For more opportunities to get involved and receive updates for Cougar PALS fill out this form - https://forms.gle/xqTGFXqGe573nur27
Thank you to everyone who helps make Burke School a thriving community for our students! 💙🐾
